Summary

—No estoy bromeando。

—Pues deberías。 Tenemos 16 años —dijo Eleanor。

—¿Y qué pasa con Romeo y Julieta?

—Superficiales, confundidos y, posteriormente, muertos。

I didn't know what this book was about, I thought it was gonna be a nice fluffy romance between awkward and very different teenagers。 Wasn't expecting my heart to be ripped out of my chest and stomped on the whole entire read。 I think this one is gonna sit in my brain for a while。 I didn't know what this book was about, I thought it was gonna be a nice fluffy romance between awkward and very different teenagers。 Wasn't expecting my heart to be ripped out of my chest and stomped on the whole entire read。 I think this one is gonna sit in my brain for a while。 。。。more

Content warning: bullying, domestic abuse and violence I thought this was a realistic representation of how high school can feel like and how teens can act/think。 It was hard to keep my attention focused on this book, I ended up taking about a week-long break simply because I had paused it for some reason and just didn’t feel compelled to continue/go back to it even though I only had less than 3 hours left。 To be honest I had considered DNF-ing really early on。 I’m glad I did finish, although I Content warning: bullying, domestic abuse and violence I thought this was a realistic representation of how high school can feel like and how teens can act/think。 It was hard to keep my attention focused on this book, I ended up taking about a week-long break simply because I had paused it for some reason and just didn’t feel compelled to continue/go back to it even though I only had less than 3 hours left。 To be honest I had considered DNF-ing really early on。 I’m glad I did finish, although I don’t think I’ll be revisiting this one。 I didn’t love listening to of the physical descriptions of the characters (especially the two main characters), but I guess I can understand how self-confidence (or lack thereof) as a teen can impact how you see yourself。 I’m not sure how the dialogue was written, as I only listened to the audiobook, but while I found the accents/dialects of some characters go be jarring, it didn’t necessarily seem maliciously done。 。。。more

when i first bought this book, i had heard many, MANY mixed views on it。 some said it was racist, some said it was amazing, some said it was okay, some said it was the worst book they're ever read。now, i love rowell。 (snowbaz。 do i need say more。) but after hearing these, i was confused。 so i went into it with an open mind, and started to read。it took me a while to get into it, as i was in a book slump from my previous book, but once i really got into it, i couldn't put it down!it was generally when i first bought this book, i had heard many, MANY mixed views on it。 some said it was racist, some said it was amazing, some said it was okay, some said it was the worst book they're ever read。now, i love rowell。 (snowbaz。 do i need say more。) but after hearing these, i was confused。 so i went into it with an open mind, and started to read。it took me a while to get into it, as i was in a book slump from my previous book, but once i really got into it, i couldn't put it down!it was generally a beautiful book, and i did really enjoy reading it。 but i do agree, that in some ways, it could be seen as racist。 some of the remarks made in the book didn't sit right with me, and they just felt wrong。 all in all, i did like it, but i didn't love it。:) 。。。more

This is definitely not a lighthearted, cutesy teen romance。 It’s a raw and realistic portrayal of the awkwardness, insecurities, and bliss of young love。 Although it deals with heavy topics, I found the story to be heartwarming along with heartbreaking。 I loved the quick pace of the novel, and the alternating point of views between Eleanor & Park。 Life isn’t always tied into a neat little bow, and this book captures that。 It’s not a book you read for HEA escapism。 It’s a book that touches your h This is definitely not a lighthearted, cutesy teen romance。 It’s a raw and realistic portrayal of the awkwardness, insecurities, and bliss of young love。 Although it deals with heavy topics, I found the story to be heartwarming along with heartbreaking。 I loved the quick pace of the novel, and the alternating point of views between Eleanor & Park。 Life isn’t always tied into a neat little bow, and this book captures that。 It’s not a book you read for HEA escapism。 It’s a book that touches your heart and your soul。 Trigger warning: Domestic abuse, bullying 。。。more

It’s about that weird teenage angst, maddening, first love that gives you butterflies and all that excitement of falling in love。 Loved this。 So good。

I REALLY liked this book。。。 until the end。 I suppose I may not have "gotten" the ending, nevertheless, it had little emotional impact on me and just left me feeling like I had missed something。 Not a bad read AT ALL though。 I love this author's books。 I think I would just like to use someone's fan fiction ending instead。 I REALLY liked this book。。。 until the end。 I suppose I may not have "gotten" the ending, nevertheless, it had little emotional impact on me and just left me feeling like I had missed something。 Not a bad read AT ALL though。 I love this author's books。 I think I would just like to use someone's fan fiction ending instead。 。。。more

This one disappointed me。 I am a big fan of some of Rainbow Rowell's works, which is why I picked this one up, but while it did deliver on certain things one wants in a YA romance, it feels like there are so many instances where potential for nuance just remained potential。 I think Rowell knows how to write a romance。 Eleanor and Park's love story was heartwarming。 She does not (or did not, at the time) know how to write POCs, and apparently was not prepared to do any research before writing the This one disappointed me。 I am a big fan of some of Rainbow Rowell's works, which is why I picked this one up, but while it did deliver on certain things one wants in a YA romance, it feels like there are so many instances where potential for nuance just remained potential。 I think Rowell knows how to write a romance。 Eleanor and Park's love story was heartwarming。 She does not (or did not, at the time) know how to write POCs, and apparently was not prepared to do any research before writing the novel。 The romance had a certain richness to it but it was sometimes hard to appreciate because I was distracted by poor use of things like race and domestic violence。 。。。more

Eleanor and Park are 2 misfit 16 year-olds who meet when Eleanor moves back in with her family and starts a new school。 Her family life is horrible。 Park is half Korean and into music and comic books。 Both are subject to bullying。 Comics and music are their first connection。 Point of view shifts between the two。 I thought this book did a good job of defining them and building to a climax。 Situations seemed believable。 Adults were not universally the bad guys。 Highly recommended。t

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 An emotional rollercoaster。 Left me with zero to no closure at all even though she said I love you back, I don’t know, I cried。 Yeah I cried and so what?
